A number of treatments are available for a fungal nail infection. Many nail salons offer topical treatments, and some drug stores sell over the counter remedies. These treatments are unlikely to work. Most people need systemic anti-fungal drugs and may have to take these drugs for long periods of time.
Even then, the treatments don’t always work. And in some people, they can cause dangerous side effects.
